Phonics

Welcome to the 'Phonics' home learning page. Phonics is a vital way to teach your child how to read and write. Phonics is split up into 6 phases (1,2,3,4,5 a,b,c and 6) your child's phase will depend on their year band and their reading colour. Below is the planning for all phonics phases taken from a website that the children are familiar with 'Phonics play'. The planning is broken down into days. On each day the children will learn a new sound and the sound will be linked to some fun activities over on the phonics play website. Next to the phase there is a hyperlink to click on to make this quick and accessible for you at home.

Here is a breakdown of how to find your child's phase

-Get your child's school reading book and look for the colour band around the bottom of the book  (pink, red, yellow, blue, green, orange, turquoise, purple, gold or white). If you haven't got your child's reading book at home ask your child's teacher what colour they are on via class dojo

-Below you will see lots of phases. Match up your child's colour book band to the phases. For ex a red reader would be Phase 3

-Download the appropriate planning for your child by clicking the download button underneath the planning

-Start on Monday and read through the planning for that day which will introduce a new sound

-Work through the whole Phase and once your child is confident with the sounds move them onto the next phase
