Spring 1

Week beginning 7th February

We have all taken part in the weekly mile this week, every day we have walked as far as we could to raise money to go towards Gary Mckee (Marathon man) fundraising target, he is running a marathon every day for a year and raising money for local charities. We cheered him on as he ran to our school.

We have also been very busy making lots of valentines crafts, we talked about who we loved and read the story "Guess how much I love you"

Our continuing Gospel value for this term is Gentleness, so we chose someone to wear our Golden sweatshirt who had been really gentle.

Spring 1

Week beginning 31st January

We have been celebrating Chinese New Year this week, we have loved tasting Chinese noodles and prawn crackers, and using tongs to try and pick up noodles and pom poms in our exploring tray.  We have looked where China is on our globe and because Tiger is the Chinese animal for this year, we have used puppets in our play.

We have used our fine manipulative skills to make Chinese New Year lanterns and made special celebratory pictures. We enjoyed learning a special Chinese dance and listening to a Chinese rhyme.

We were excited to get a new water tray and had fun in guessing what was in the box and then working out how to get it out!

We chose two children who had shown real gentleness towards their friends, and they got to wear the Golden sweatshirt.

Spring 1

Week beginning 24th January 2022

Our book of the week has been "The tiger who came to tea" So we have had fun reading the story, acting it out with puppets and also mark making with various Tiger resources.

We celebrated a birthday so made cakes and enjoyed them for our snack.

We had lots of fun with large boxes for open ended play, we climbed through them, stacked them and also decorated them. We used our binoculars outdoors to see if we could see any birds.

We enjoyed looking at ourselves in mirrors to see if we are different to our friends, and we also looked at our toys through the mirror to see the reflection.

Spring 1

Week beginning:17th January 2022

This week we have been reading "The Gruffalo" We acted out the story with puppets and natural materials and also made Gruffalo collages with the story characters.

We explored and tasted different fruit and vegetables at snack time, and made healthy banana pancakes. We then used carrots to mark make with paint to see the patterns we could make.

We were interested in magnets, so we looked around the setting to see which things were magnetic and would stick to our magnets.

Our Gospel value for this term is Gentleness, we have talked about how we can be gentle with our friends and we said a special prayer.

Spring 1

Week beginning 5th and 10th January

We have welcomed the children back to Pre Nursery after our Christmas break. We have had lots of new starters, so we have spent our time settling in and exploring the room. We have enjoyed sharing lots of stories and songs, explored real vegetables in the home corner, and talked about the rules of the room.
